Quail – 鵪鶉
A quail! A lot of quails!! Seeing these lovely wild creatures in my backyard is amazing!
The California Quail is a round soccer ball of a bird with a gray breast, intricately scaled underparts, and a curious, forward-drooping head plume. They are plump, short-necked game birds with a small head and bill. Both sexes have a comma-shaped topknot of feathers projecting forward from the forehead, longer in males than females.
Often seen scratching at the ground in large groups or dashing forward on blurred legs, I was never able to capture them on film with a good photo shot. Today is different because there are quite a bit of spill of seeds on the ground from our newly refilled bird feeder. The birds are simply ignoring my camera clicking at them nonstop …
Lucky quails or luck me?!:-)

Nice Fez caps on the birds. They look little Faberge eggs.
Thanks!
How cute!
They are, aren’t they? Always a pleasure to see wild animals in the wild…
The Quails are fantastic. They look like well fed aristocrats with well coiffured top knots or expensive headdresses.
LOL! If these quails can read, they would much appreciate your compliments.:-) The most loving sight has to be a mommy quail with an army of her newborns dashing across road. I hope to capture some on films in my near future.

Mine has no theme, neither. Whatever interests me at the moment… But I do love to see little wild animals like birds and quails and hares…. Happy blogging!
